I have always had an interest in science, analysis and the technological, studying Astrophysics for some time and earning a BA in Physics. Art and Design have always played a crucial but secondary role in my development, through drawing, writing, sculpting and painting. For me the web has offered a sound stage where I can present work that combines and intersects the technical and the creative. Another complimentary area for this is designing for data-rich experiences (ie. information visualization).

Though I began web design with a few projects in 2000, my work as a designer / developer officially began in 2005 -- this work eventually fell under the title, Supraset.

The title means the set above or the set apart... which is to say I'm not a programmer or a designer, not an artist or an analyst. Nor am I all these things put together. Neither specialist, nor generalist. I cannot be represented by a Venn diagram. I am not a "superset" of my interests and skills.

Rather, I am the intersection or the set apart.
...not that I am unique in this, but this perspective has afforded me some unique strategies for approaching problems of design and functionality.

I have produced a number of sites using my unique design sense and custom architectures. The last couple of years I've become more of a Drupal implementer / hacker.

I continue to steadily absorb new and useful technologies and take on challenging projects. After some wandering and wondering, I now find myself indefinitely taking in some fresh air out in Hawai'i. It's wonderful being equally close to the blue ocean and the green mountains.

The change has inspired me to reinvent this site, so stay tuned for an update.
