Movies are fun and engaging,
and also a vital means by which
people share information and
express themselves... so why
can't the process of using movies
in the classroom reflect this
experience more?

Welcome to Find it in Film's Walk-Thru Demo!

These days educators enjoy a variety of options when it comes to visual media—indeed, perhaps too many to be manageable. While some thoughtful distributors provide lesson plans and discussion questions, most do not, especially those whose classic films are often the mainstays of school libraries.

And even when teaching resources accompany a given movie, often their one-size-fits-all content may not meet the needs of an individual curriculum or classroom. In addition, such resources typically assume a teacher is screening a given title in its entirety, an approach used less and less as streaming clips become increasingly available.

Find it in Film provides support for educators who use targeted film, television, or video clips—regardless of their platform or source—to inspire their students. Our goal is to help teachers
  • identify clips with curricular content
  • create lesson plans with them flexibly
  • manage class time effectively with precise run times
  • introduce clips knowledgeably and with "inside information"
  • make connections to other clips—and other subject areas
  • launch discussions that help students see "beneath the surface"
We do this by unleashing the insight, expertise, and passion of teachers themselves to share how they use the uniquely powerful "teachable moments" that visual media provide. On other occasions we invite scholars, authors, or respected organizations to share their knowledge as well. This demo provides a preview of the interface and functionality of this system.
